Caribbean Cruise FAQs

When is the best time to take a Caribbean cruise?

Caribbean cruises sail from late October to April, with the most reliable weather running from December through April. This dry season brings warm temperatures and calm seas across the Eastern, Western, and Southern Caribbean. Spring and fall sailings offer lower fares and fewer visitors at popular ports, with the trade-off of a higher chance of rain.

Which islands will I visit on a Holland America Caribbean cruise?

That depends on your route. Eastern Caribbean itineraries favor islands like St. Thomas, St. Maarten, and Grand Turk; Western itineraries lean toward Cozumel, Costa Maya, and Grand Cayman; and Southern voyages reach Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao. Caribbean Collectors’ Voyages combine back-to-back itineraries for a deeper exploration, often spanning multiple regions. Look for itineraries that visit the islands you most want to explore.

How long are Caribbean cruises?

Most Caribbean cruises run from seven to eleven days, sailing roundtrip from Fort Lauderdale. Shorter getaways of five to six days are available if you're tight on time, while longer voyages let you reach the Southern Caribbean and spend more days in port. Choose the length that fits your schedule and the islands you'd like to discover.
