Explore the beautiful island of Grand Turk by eco-savvy HXT Electric Hummer -- a fun, cool and eco-friendly way to tour the entire island. Head out driving caravan-style in your classy, eye-catching ride after a safety briefing from your tour guide.
Your tour guides will put you in vacation mode as you start your 360-degree view of the island. Your first stop will be the former US Air Force Base.
Journey along Front Street to see mesmerizing, magnificent old colonial buildings that date from the 1600s and 1800s. These are set against a backdrop of pristine turquoise water and powdery white sand. See the old jetty and hear about the 7,200-foot drop unique to Grand Turk.
Stop downtown to purchase drinks, snacks and unique handmade crafts and souvenirs.
Back in your Hummer, head north to the Circle of Life. Here, you'll see and touch sea creatures such as conch, urchins, starfish, jellyfish and sea cucumbers. Glimpse the lighthouse in the distance and watch for roaming horses and donkeys as they bask in the sun.
Next, you're headed to the salt ponds at Salt Cay Town. Hear tales of the island's prosperous salt industry and learn how salt was harvested in pre-industrial days as you see the remnants of the old salt plantation dating back to the 1500s. You may also be lucky enough to see various birds foraging through the salt ponds.
Your last stop is at a replica of the famous Friendship 7 Mercury spacecraft (John Glenn Space Capsule), piloted by John Glenn, which landed off the southeast shore of Grand Turk in 1972.
Head back to the ship, taking memories of Grand Turk's rich history with you.
