Exclusive Club Orange Program Will be Available on All Ships by October 2019
Holland America Line’s popular new Club Orange premium amenities program will be available on all ships in the fleet by October 2019. Currently on nine ships, Club Orange gives guests an additional level of luxury and service with priority access, exclusive amenities and special events.
Club Orange is available to purchase for a limited number of non-suite staterooms on each sailing, and features stateroom upgrades within the category booked and a special “Captain’s Choice” onboard event. Guests in Neptune and Pinnacle suites will also receive all of the benefits of Club Orange at no additional charge (excluding the stateroom upgrade and onboard event). All Club Orange guests are privy to extra privileges — from a private dining venue to priority services and a dedicated concierge hotline.
“Club Orange is fast becoming a favorite on board with its exclusive services like priority access and private dining, so we’re pleased to expand this program fleet wide so even more guests can take advantage of the benefits,” said Orlando Ashford, president of Holland America Line. “Club Orange is an exceptional value and our guests appreciate how much the extra touches and services enhance their cruise experience. And with the newly added stateroom upgrade and special event for guests purchasing the program, the value is even greater.”
New Amenities for Club Orange
Guests who purchase Club Orange will receive an upgrade within the booked category to the best available stateroom. The upgrade will be based on availability at the time of Club Orange purchase. Also new to the program is a “Captain’s Choice” event that takes place during the cruise, also exclusively for guests who purchase Club Orange. The event could be one of several planned special experiences that may include a behind the scenes hotel department tour, exclusive pre-opening shopping access, private coffee chat with Music Walk musicians and cast members and more.
Priority Access
Amenities that come with the exclusive Club Orange program include priority check-in and disembarkation, priority tender service and priority alternative restaurant reservations made on board. Club Orange guests also have a dedicated line at Guest Services and the shore excursion desk, as well as a dedicated concierge hotline on board for dining reservations, tour assistance, general questions and support.
Private Dining
For most of the fleet, a dedicated section of the dining room will be designated for use by Club Orange guests for breakfast and dinner. On Koningsdam and Nieuw Statendam, a separate Club Orange restaurant is open every day for breakfast and dinner. The venue serves the same menu featured in Pinnacle Grill for breakfast and the dining room for dinner. Menus on all ships will feature additional daily dishes exclusive to Club Orange.
Additional benefits to Club Orange members include an enhanced in-stateroom à la carte breakfast dining menu with complimentary premium selections such as steak and eggs or smoked salmon Benedict, a welcome glass of sparkling wine at dinner on embarkation day, premium bathrobe for use in stateroom (and available for purchase and monogramming), and an exclusive Club Orange tote bag.
The cost of Club Orange is $35 per person per day on Nieuw Statendam and Koningsdam and $25 per person per day on all other ships. The first and second guest in the same stateroom are both required to purchase the program. There is no additional charge for third and fourth guests in the same stateroom. Club Orange must be purchased prior to cruise departure and is not available for purchase on board.
Once a guest has booked their cruise, they or their travel advisor can add Club Orange by contacting Holland America Line Ship Inventory at 1-888-628-8107 or 206-626-7381.
I see my comment has disappeared so don’t know if this will survive. The Club Orange priorities and perks diminish the value of the Neptune Suite or Mariners with long and costly earned 4 or 5 stars. In checking future cruises, one can see the swift drop in bookings for Neptune Suites. Why pay for expensive suites when you can get the cheapest cabin and pay the Club Orange upgrade for $25-35 to get many of those perks? So the Neptune Suite and 4-5 star mariner loyalty rewards are now sold off for a few dollars. Not the way to build and maintain loyalty for future higher priced bookings. But no doubt a great way to fill the cheap cabins and get that extra $25-35. So losing a $1,000/day to get $200/day? Wow.
How do you get it.It seems like i cannot purchase it on line .I have to call and let somebody book it for me??/ WHY??
Can someone in an Oceanview cabin purchase Club Orange?
Does Club Orange allow eatly check in? I know there’s priority chevk in.
A line we sail most with, their VIP service allows 11am check in. In addition to the internet as someone else mentioned.
Dining at
Club Orange was so much more pleasant than the dining room where you can’t hear what anyone is saying.
o
Does OC have tables for 2?
I intend to purchase immediately
We are about to book our 3rd New Year’s cruise and our last one (2019-2020) we were offered the Club Orange upgrade. We absolutely loved it and plan on doing it again this time, once it is available. The comments about this program (which only costs $25/ day) creating a separation of classes is just bizarre to me. I’d understand if you said that about the extras available to suite guests or mariner status, but about this program? I don’t think so, if anything it’s more inclusive.
I absolutely hate that Neptune Suite guests no longer have breakfast in the Pinnacle Grill. This restaurant is no replacement. I actually have booked other ships over this issue.
What are Mariners Number Thanks Bill
I want the amenities and perks of club orange and am willing to pay for it!
I don’t want to have to cruise for umpteen hundred days to get these perks!
I also don’t want to have to buy a suite I do not need or will not use to get the perks of Club Orange. I only use a room to sleep, change clothes, and to take a shower. Therefore I do not need to pay for a suite that I will never use.
Without being able to “BUY” these perks, cruising would not be near as enjoyable.
In fact, I want more Mariner perks, and suite perks should be included in Club Orange. I am willing to pay for those perks that I will use and make my cruise more enjoyable.
Internet for two devices per stateroom should also be an included in the price of Club Orange. Other cruise companies include internet in their “VIP” packages.
To those who are 3, 4, and 5 star mariners…. you get those perks for no extra fee other then being a frequent cruiser, where as I am willing to pay extra for them. For those of you who get suites. You are paying for these perks in the price of your suite.
Why shouldn’t Holland America sell me these perks if I am willing to pay for them, and if they will make my cruise more enjoyable?
As far as classes go? That’s one thing I wish cruises brought back. It’s one thing I love about airlines and I won’t fly anything but first class.
I LOVE this option! I want these perks WITHOUT having to get a suite which I don’t need. I use a room to sleep, shower and get dressed. Don’t need or use a room for anything else. So an inside room is all I need. Don’t want to spend money on a room I don’t need. Yet I still want some of the perks hat are given with suites. I will pay extra for those perks.
I also don’t want to have to wait till I have taken umpteen hundred days of cruises to get the perks and items I want too. I am more then willing to pay for those special perks. Such as dedicated lines, early embarkation, early tinder access, nicer robes, etc…
One improvement in club orange I would like to see, is for it to INCLUDE internet access for two devices per stateroom. That should be engraved included in the price for club orange. Two of your competitors include internet in their “VIP” packages.
But keep this package! I love it!
To those who don’t like the segregation… I’m sorry, but to bad.
Absolutely the best idea in years. We are three star mariners and used Club Orange for the first time on our last cruise. Really felt that we were getting better service for our Neptune suite fare. Wasn’t so sure of that before. Just booked on the Ryndam for 2021 and changed over from Princess. Looking forward to another Pinnacle class cruise. Keep up the good ideas. Kind of missed the mainstage productions, however.
I hate to see further class definition.. loyalty does not seem as important as it once was to Holland America
4 star and Neptune sailor here…. just my two cents.
If I were to dine in a ‘separate dining area’ I would much prefer that it have a strict dress code as a gatekeeper rather than a financial entrance fee. I can’t see where it would change my experience in any meaningful way to know my fellow diners paid more (either way) to dine there.
As to ‘class’: If they were to adopt a traditional dining dress code (something that seems to slip further away with each cruise I take), I would not care if they were 6 people stowing away in an inside cabin.
I do appreciate when my fellow diners make the effort to look smart for dinner. It is for them I dress, and it is for me that I wish they would.
Just to confirm… Is there a separate area of the MDR now on the Zandaam for Suite Guests and Club Orange for 2020? Is there a dedicated check-in area for it? Trying to decide on accomodation, Thanks.
We have just booked a special celebration trip in Oct 2020 in a Neptune suite on the Nieuw Amsterdam. Finding out that the extra benefits we paid dearly for as part of our suite booking can now be grabbed for close to nothing as part of CO membership for non suite customers is a huge disappointment. Had I known, I would not have booked on HAL for this trip…. Very poor marketing it is!
I’m so excited to have been offered a free inside cabin compliments of the casino which I acquired on the Eurodam. I booked a free Inside Cabin on the Nieuw Statendam. Then, I was offered an upgrade from interior to a balcony for just over $249, which I grabbed in a hurry. On Monday, I was offered to upgrade to the Orange Club for $25/day and another upgrade. So, now I get to travel in a Spa Verandah and get Club Orange. I think this is very smart on HAL’s part. They may get a customer who will enjoy it so much, they’ll want to come back. I was offered to upgrade on MSC to Yacht Club at the last minute and I will tel l you they SOLD me on it. From now on I will only travel Yacht Club with them. I suspect I will feel the same once get a taste of the “Orange Life.” I cruise 3-5 times/year and am loyal to no one in particular, but will primarily choose who will give me the most for my money and it looks like I’ll be returning to HAL for their generosity. I was on the Eurodam in September and love that ship. Service is great, food superb. Can’t wait to sail the Nieuw Statendam in my Orange Club Spa Verandah
I am currently on Rotterdam sailing toward Panama Canal. I have not seen anything about this OC thing on this boat. I am 5 star but not in a suite though.
We wanted to keep an open mind and give CO a try. Three of us are cruising in an ocean view room on Maasdam in December. We like HAL but don’t have a lot of vacation time for cruising. Made it to 3 stars so far.
We have been 5 star mariners for several years. When we saw the rollout of OC on the Koningsdam replacing a very good bistro, we were wandering just how long this would last. The claim it is to be on all HAL ships by 2020 and now there is a lowering of the costs for non-suite guests, leaves one to believe the extra $$ for seemingly few extras is not a winning combination.
Would love to hear from non-suite guests who have purchase the OC experience and would they pay for it a second time.
I am now a 5* Mariner and Club Orange does not appeal to me, I feel as do others that Club Orange disgriminates against Mariners who have travelled with HAL for many years. I also do not like the idea of segregation aboard HAL, HAL has always been a one class ship and should remain so.
I applaud HAL for creating Club Orange. We had taken several HAL cruises for New Years Eve and always loved the classic look, service and cuisine on-board. My wife had been a cruise travel reviewer and always had great things to say about our experiences on HAL. We tried Celebrity when we learned about Aqua Class and loved the upgraded room, amenities and Blue restaurant and MSC Yacht Club for their ship-within-a-ship concept. These service rather than stateroom upgrades open up new options and freshness for regular cruisers. Looks like HAL has developed a winning competitive option so we have come back to HAL for NY Eve 2019/20 and are looking forward to Club Orange!
I will be on the ms Amsterdam in a Neptune suite on the World Cruise 2020 and eating at first seating (second level). May I also select from The Club Orange menu; and will the CO menu be delivered to my table?
I think it’s a slap in the face for your loyal 4 and 5 star Mariners who have been loyal to the company and worked to get the benefits. Seems HAL no longer cares about loyalty
Julie,
I don’t understand your response to Candace. “all ships still serve breakfast in Pinnacle Grill for Neptune Suite guests. This has not changed. …” I was under the impression that, since Koningsdam and Nieuw Statendam have dedicated Club Orange restaurants, the Pinnacle Grill would no longer serve breakfast to Neptune and Pinnacle suite guests. Please clarify — I’m leaving Wednesday for a Neptune on the Koningsdam and would like to know what to expect. Thanks.
I will be in a Neptune suite on the World Cruise 2020 and eating at first seating (second level) in the dining room. May I also select from a Club Orange menu?
Very upset about this we have sailed and made four star to have the privileges sold to anyone. It just shows that long time loyal customers are not important to Hal. Not happy this is not carnival or Disney that if you have more money you can buy your way up….
We are 5 star Mariners and are very unhappy with having our earned benefits removed, in particular priority tendering, but given to Club Orange instead. We have spent 100’s of thousands with Holland America and are very sad to find we are no longer valued customers.
We throughly enjoyed Club Orange dining on the MS Koningsdam. Where do Club Orange members eat on the MS Rotterdam, please?
Looks like it would be $25 per person per day.
On which ships can Neptune suite guests still eat breakfast in the Pinnacle Grill? We are 4-star Mariners and always get a Neptune suite and this was one of the nicest perks. Hated eating in Club Orange on the Nieuw Statendam! So now the embarkation lines for suite guests (who pay much more for their cabins) will be slower due to Club Orange guests? Hate this.
Does anybody know the current price for CO on the Maasdam (sailing in April, 2020)?
I do not like the idea, money is of more value as faithfull. Excuse my English it is not my native language. We try to reach 4 stars. The retirement money in The Netherlands is going down only. That means less cruises for us. For fun I should have to pay USD 70 extra per day. Unbelieveble. I would like to even call it soft discrimination!
35$ voor in een kantine te zitten?????
HAL is verkeerd bezig!!
No reply? It’s been a week.
Guess we need to look for another cruise line. We were hoping for a reply as we feel left out, paying extra for a suite to get some perks is okay, but then the same perks are then offered to those in cheaper cabins. These OC members are then moved to the next category of cabins as well. Doesn’t make sense anymore to sail with HAL. Other cruise lines offer their suite guests better amenities as well as treat their loyal guests a bit better.
Always loved our HAL cruises but have noticed the standards dropping and instead of keeping their loyal customers they now cater to the new guests. So much for Mariner status.
This is a rub it in your nose, segregated, flagrant, exhibition, of wealth & position in life. For the hard working family, or the savings some retirees work so hard for to take a occasional cruise. It is one thing to reward you for multiple cruises, you would not know a 5 star mariner from a 10 star mariner because those perks were given on a personal basis, this program is flaunting the wealthy $ well positioned people on the ship. Might as well wear a Orange Sign, so other shipmates know you are Special. Very Disappointing.
I’m very disappointed in the introduction of Club Orange. We’ve cruised with HAL since 1985 and seen many changes. However, as others previously noted, the addition of Club Orange and its effect on your long term guests should not be underestimated. As a long term guest, we’ve spent in the hundreds of thousands of dollars and shown tremendous loyalty to HAL and it appears that loyalty is not appreciated. I could be a first time guest, pay for CO and get amenities that a 4 and 5 star Mariner spent years
acquiring In the explanation of the CO program, it states that suite guests get all the current amenities plus the CO amenities with the exception of cabin upgrades. Yet, no where in the onboard literature is this mentioned. We’ve been on the Nieuw Amsterdam and Noordam in the past month. Neither explains this policy. We are 4 star mariners and usually stay in a suite. We are now nickled and dimed to the nth degree. Espresso at Canaletto, extra; Internet, extra; Latte, extra; additional main in the Pinnacle, extra; want a lobster tail, extra; etc. Yes, we get discounts and free laundry but that really isn’t a great offset for what we’ve spent. In our 34 years of cruising, I believe we’ve been offered free upgrades on 2 occasions but a CO guest is eligible for an upgrade every trip. I pay, they play. As you probably gathered, I’m very disappointed in HAL at the moment.
This appears to be the same thing that we get as a guest in a Neptune or Penthouse suite – for which we pay $$$$$. So if I’m understanding this correctly, now guests in a much lower cabin category who paid far less than we did can pay $25-35/day and enjoy the same benefits we get??!! How is that even fair?!?
Why are are only some of the Orange Club amenities given to suites? Why not all?
Almost seems that we as suite guest don’t count nor does our mariner status. Bummer
John Schmidt, if this is such a “home run” why does Hal keep lowering the price on this?
Yet another money-grab from Holland America. Agree with both of the comments above. This might work on Carnival, but actually lowers the reputation of Holland American. Once seen as the classic, elegant cruise line this move relegates it to the classless “anything for money” rankings. HA, you’ve diluted your customer appreciation program enough – please stop.
I agree with Janus and Lorene. Segregating is not a good look for HAL. I, too, loved the Koningsdam’s specialty dinners (Sage and Lavender) and the true hands on cooking classes. We are 4 star mariners who achieved this level by spending a lot….I mean a lot on HAL ships. Club Orange is not for me.
My “ONLY” issue with Club Orange was the roll out, communication could have been better. And, with other cruise ship venues making similar changes, HAL is now in competition with them, it’s called Business and to survive you need to make changes. We have sailed with HAL since 1979 Circa BC, have we seen changes, sure we have, now the question is why HAL? We have been on others Cruise Lines, that why, Seek and Ye shall Find.
We were on Koningsdam 10 Dec 2018 and opened Club Orange dinner location & back onboard end of January and from day one every aspect was changed & improved. Now, in my business opinion, HAL has hit a Home Run, certenly not a “Dismal Failure” Thank you for your time.
I find it amazing at a time when more and more ships aren’t honoring priority tendering for 4 and 5 star guests because there are just too many of them, a program is introduced where you can buy your way into priority tendering. You really do a disservice to your loyal 4 and 5 Star Mariners. Just a thought….
I loved it to sail with Holland America Line and had made all me cruises with HAL. This step with Club Orange is a step back in the past to the different classes. I prefer ships where everybody is the same. For this reason I shall look also in the programs of other cruise compagnies.
This program diminishes the incentive to work towards mariner status. Why pay thousands for what hundreds will get you? Count us out….
If guests want extra amenities, the answer is simple — purchase a suite.
We are new 5 star mariners. So what is the advantage of loyalty to HAL if others can purchase priority boarding, etc? And I really do NOT like the idea of exclusivity in dining venues and other means of creating “classes” of passengers. That sort of snobbery was what other mariners have said they found most offensive about the Cunard line. I may reconsider my loyalty to HAL.
I expect this comment to not see the light of day since it’s not praising Hal. This seems to be a dismal failure as Hal keeps on reducing the price for club orange. All it does is take away from the high star mariners which Hal doesn’t appreciate in any way and I spend boatloads of money with you folks. I LOVED this space on the koningsdam when it was the gastro pub and didn’t expect to like it so much. Now we have this. How about giving it free to 5 stars to show you actually appreciate us!
Stupidest idea ever. Creating segregated classes onboard is not a good plan. Those of us who save for years for each cruise do not want to feel like third class citizens on our holiday because we can’t afford to spend even more for ridiculous extras.
We have found all 36 meals at Club Orange simply Outstanding. Thank HAL
