A Few of Lewie the Lion’s Favorite Things
It’s National Mascot Day, which is a great time to put the spotlight on our loyal furry friend and mascot, Lewie. He loves seeing the world from his doorstep on Holland America Line cruises. From soaking up the onboard experience to enjoying the breeze through his majestic mane on shore, he relishes the perks of cruise travel. Here are a few of Lewie the Lion’s favorite things:
Fresh Fish
With 80 types of fresh fish being served across our thoughtfully crafted itineraries, we deliver fresh on a global scale. This has earned two paws up from our pal, Lewie. Whether he’s in Alaska, Europe, South America or beyond, Lewie knows he’s going to delight in fresh flavors, locally sourced ingredients and destination-inspired menus.
Exploring the Shore
Shore excursions give guests the opportunity to experience destinations in fun ways. From wildlife encounters and zip-lining to food tours and hiking, there are an array of places and landmarks to enjoy through shore activities. Our pal especially enjoys kayaking.
Pickleball
Our furry friend is always up for pickleball fun. He started out with complimentary lessons on board, and now he can’t get enough of it. His #1 tip is to stay out of the kitchen.
Artwork
Whether he’s viewing the beautifully unique artwork on board or visiting museums ashore, Lewie loves soaking up the sights of creative works around the globe. He especially loves stopping by museums in Europe. Lewie descends from a long line of Dutch lions living in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, so exploring artwork in the Rijksmuseum while in town is at the top of his list.
Relaxing On the Beach
Sunshine on his face and sand between his toes mean R&R for our friend, Lewie. When he’s craving Caribbean vibes, there’s one place he wishes he could stay forever – Holland America Line’s award-winning private island. From kayaking to chilling in a cabana, he knows how to make the most of his day in Half Moon Cay.
