Departing the port, your motor coach takes you along the seafront avenue to the Funchal Farmer’s Market. Enjoy the sounds and scents of this market with its enormous variety of fruit, vegetables and flowers. Then, proceed to the village of Monte and walk through it to admire a succession of beautiful gardens and landscapes. On the far side of town, board the cable car for a ride over breathtaking views of the valleys that lead to the Botanic Gardens of Madeira. Here you will learn why Madeira is known as the Floating Garden—these gardens are beautifully laid out across terraces that climb from 600 to 900 feet in elevation. You will have free time to explore the path winding between dragon and coral trees, hibiscus bushes and an abundance of flowers both indigenous and exotic, with sensational city views. Return by coach to Funchal, stopping to visit the famous wine cellars of Madeira.
