Oprah Winfrey Dedicates Nieuw Statendam

On February 3, 2019, our newest Pinnacle-class ship, Nieuw Statendam, was dedicated by her godmother, Ms. Oprah Winfrey. Watch the festive private ceremony by clicking on the video below. This time-honored tradition is thought to bring good luck and protection to all who sail on board. Cruising the Caribbean for her inaugural season, Nieuw Statendam will then cruise Europe for summer 2019.

Meet the Artists

An enormously talented group of people bring their unique vision and skill to the art that adorns Nieuw Statendam. Learn about these individuals and how they approach their work.

Jason Krugman

Sometimes an artist must devise new materials to bring an artistic vision to life. Jason has done exactly that, using hand-made, low-voltage LED lights to create meditations on the nature of light and how it affects our perspective.

Sandra Spannan

Consider the endless possibilities of glass. Using silkscreened, marine-inspired designs and 22k Florentine gold-infused gelatin water to create an antique mirrored surface, Sandra manipulates glass panels into dynamic works of art.

David Leventi

Inspired by his grandfather’s dreams of performing, David created a series of 50 photographs, shot from the singers’ perspective, in the world’s most iconic opera houses. He used a large-format camera and extremely long exposure.
