Journey through the oldest town in Jamaica, Falmouth, in the Parish of Trelawny. You're headed for St Peter's Anglican Church — built in the 18th century and the oldest Anglican Church on the island. Pause here to take photos from the outside only.
In the town of Greenwood, visit Irie Flava — a Caribbean kitchen offering a fascinating encounter with 18th-century cooking implements, utensils and other historical household items. Dig into a fantastic tasting of Jamaican specialties — ackee and saltfish, jerk chicken, codfish fritters, bammy, roast yellow yam, festival, Johnny cake, in-season fruit, coconut drops, grater cake, blue drawz, Devon House ice cream, and rum punch or lemonade. What on earth are all these treats? They may be new to visitors, but locals love to eat them, and their stories are integral to Jamaica's amazing history.
The resident craft vendor, Miss Robbie to you, will demonstrate how to make Jamaican craft items. Local music, from Ska to Dancehall, sets a happy vibe and, if you're game, you can try your hand (or your feet) at Jamaican dancing.
