Begin your tour with a short orientation drive through Timaru.
Continue through the Rangitata Valley to your next stop Geraldine and enjoy free time in the township. Geraldine is located in the heart of a prosperous farming area and is especially renowned for its galleries and craft stores featuring NZ wool products. Geraldine also features excellent food outlets including Barkers Fruit Processors, where you can sample the wonderful fruit juices, jams, condiments and toppings. Next door is the Talbot Forest Cheese shop, offering samples of fresh local cheeses.
Visit the Geraldine Military Museum housing a private collection of rare military tanks and military collectibles. Next door is local botanical gin producer Humdinger.
Your last stop will be at Timaru's Caroline Bay. From here, a timber boardwalk along the beach winds around artificial sand dunes planted with native grasses and a wetlands.
You will have the option to walk back to the vessel from this point – a pleasant 1km (0.6mi) seaside walk, or return by coach.
