West Coast Wineries
Travel east to the Swan Valley, passing views of the beautiful city of Perth and the Swan River en route. Follow in the footsteps of the first colonial settlers as you journey into this fertile farming region. You’ll visit Houghton’s Winery, where the first commercial vintage was produced in 1859. In fact, this winery, located at the edge of the Swan Valley, includes a homestead that dates back to 1863 and is listed by the National Historic Trust. Enjoy a wine tasting here; then you’ll tour Sandalford’s Caversham Estate—one of Western Australia’s largest privately owned wineries. The estate produces 90,000 cases per year, including 11 premium table wines, a port and a dessert wine. Your stop at Sandalford’s also includes a wine tasting while you visit the cellar. Historic winemaking techniques and tools are on display here.
Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair. Minimum age to consume alcohol is 18 years. To participate in the wine tasting portion of this tour you must be of legal age and accompanied by an adult age 21 or over.
