Board an air-conditioned coach for a short transfer to the famous Frank Gehry-designed Biomuseum. The Biomuseum tells the story of the physical rise of the Isthmus of Panama and how this cataclysmic event changed the natural world as we know it today. It is affiliated with the Smithsonian Institute -- the first affiliation of its kind outside of the USA.
Panama was chosen as the location of the Biomuseum because of its staggering biodiversity and its fascinating history. Through the Biomuseum, visitors discover this country's ecological value. Its objectives are to educate, create an interchange of Panama's natural and cultural resources, and focus knowledge regarding the environment and its conservation. The museum chronicles the rise of the isthmus and the biological and climatic changes that continue to transform the natural world. Spend approximately 90 minutes at the museum with an audio guide to take you through the five different galleries.
Next, sit back and relax on a panoramic drive along the Cinta Costera 3 route and the busy waterfront Avenida Balboa boulevard. The latter offers excellent views of the Bay of Panama and Panama City's historical district -- the Casco Viejo -- en route back to the ship.
