Saranda was founded in antiquity and was known to the Romans as Onchesmus. Today, this Albanian Riviera town is the gateway to southern Albania and has about 33,000 inhabitants.

Walk through the city center with your guide to view the ruins of the ancient Illyrian city mentioned in texts from the 1st century BC. When the Romans arrived in the 4th century AD, they fortified Saranda with walls that contained dwellings, water cisterns and an early Christian Basilica. The remains of the latter contain a beautiful multi-coloured floor mosaic.

Your walk ends with a beverage served at a local restaurant.
