Riverboat Discovery

In 1950 Captain Jim Binkley, Sr. and his wife, Mary, launched a riverboat-excursion tourism business, which eventually grew from one 25-person boat to the current 900-passenger Discovery III sternwheeler. Three-hour tours with Riverboat Discovery visit the home and kennels of the late four-time Iditarod champion Susan Butcher and include a tour of a Chena Athabascan Indian village led by a Native Alaskan—as well as time to shop for souvenirs at the Steamboat Landing trading post.

Chena Hot Springs Resort

One of the most relaxing things to do before you cruise out of Fairbanks, Alaska. Chena Hot Springs, discovered by settlers in 1905, is renowned for its healing waters as well as the resort’s outdoor activities. Take a soak in hot tubs or in the steaming natural Rock Lake.
