Get acquainted with the sights and sounds of Peru’s capital city as you tour Lima’s UNESCO World Heritage Site Old Town.
At the Plaza Mayor, view the Presidential Palace, City Hall and the Archbishop’s Palace. Lose yourself in the stunning beauty of the Lima Cathedral -- a magnificent example of Spanish colonial architecture. Note the "Door of Forgiveness," the chapels, the baptistery, and the tomb of Conquistador Francisco Pizarro.
Next, visit Santo Domingo Convent, the oldest church and convent in Lima. Comprised of a succession of cloisters and yards, the Santo Domingo Convent was built in 1540 and later modernized into its present neo-Classical style in the 18th century.
Pause for refreshments at Casa Garcia Alvarado for a glimpse of how the Peruvian élite lived in the early 1900s. Miraflores was one of the earliest residential districts -- a haven for Peru’s noble families.
The Parque del Amor is the perfect spot to celebrate romantic love. Wander through the gardens, view the sculptures, read the romantic quotes scripted in mosaic tiles, and take in the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean.
With a narrated drive featuring the Plaza Dos de Mayo, the Plaza San Martin and the San Isidro district, you can safely say that your day in Lima has covered many highlights of this vividly fascinating capital city.
