Answer: You can stay connected at sea through a mix of emergency support, onboard Wi-Fi and email, mobile phone roaming, and ship-to-shore calling — each designed for different moments and needs.
For urgent situations, Holland America Line always has the best interest of our guests in mind and provides a dedicated emergency phone line, so loved ones can reach the ship when it truly matters. Our representatives are available to assist in any way they can, including help with travel delays and contacting loved ones.
During our regular business hours, please call:
1-800-426-0327.
Representatives are available from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday (Pacific Time).
Outside of these hours and during holidays, please call 1-800-628-4771 or 1-206-626-7382.
Guests who need to make or receive direct calls to the ship can use Ship Dial Service, which connects callers straight to the vessel. Please note that a credit card is required for all inbound phone calls to a ship. The rate is US$7.95 per minute and billing begins at the time specified. Please have the ship’s name, your party’s name and stateroom number before you call.

For everyday communication, onboard internet and email offer a more flexible solution. Through Holland America Line Connect, guests can choose from a range of Wi-Fi plans based on how they like to stay in touch — from light browsing and messaging to streaming favorite shows. Make sure to download the Navigator™ app, where plans are easy to manage and purchases and upgrades can be handled at any point during the voyage. Satellite service may vary by location, but access is thoughtfully designed to keep you connected without overwhelming your time at sea.
Mobile phones can also work onboard through international roaming once the ship reaches open water. Your device may connect to a maritime network rather than a land-based carrier, which can result in higher charges depending on your provider. Because plans differ widely, it’s wise to check with your carrier before sailing and adjust phone settings accordingly.
On longer journeys, including Grand and Legendary Voyages, traditional mail offers a charming alternative. Letters and postcards can be sent from select ports, with postage available ashore or through Guest Services, for an unhurried way to stay in touch, one stamp at a time.
