Start with the famous Iao Valley, recognized as a very special place for both its spiritual value and spectacular scenery. Designated a National Natural Landmark in 1972, it is a Historic State Park and home to the iconic Iao Needle.
The Kula Botanical Garden, on the slopes of Haleakala, encompasses eight acres of colorful plants, amazing rock formations, a covered bridge, waterfalls, a koi pond, an aviary with native nene geese, and a tiki exhibit.
Enjoy a picnic-style lunch in this spectacular outdoor setting with amazing views.
As your tour wraps up, you’ll make your way to Hookipa Beach Park — one of Maui’s most iconic coastal treasures. Known around the world for its powerful surf and vibrant marine life, Hookipa is also a beloved resting place for the Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle, or honu, a species deeply respected in Hawaiian culture.
Most afternoons, honu glide in from the ocean to bask on the warm sand, returning to this shoreline day after day. This makes Hookipa one of the most reliable places in Hawaii to observe these remarkable animals in their natural habitat.
Hookipa is also famous for its windsurfing and big-wave surfing, so guests often enjoy a double show — turtles resting on the beach and surfers carving through the waves just offshore.
Notes:
Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles are migratory animals. Although Hookipa Beach Park is a regular resting spot and turtles often come ashore in the afternoon, wildlife is always unpredictable. Sightings are common, but they cannot be guaranteed. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. Mobility devices (wheelchairs, walkers, scooters, etc) cannot be accommodated on the transportation. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Bring a light jacket. Minimum age is 8 years. Minimum age to drink alcohol is 21 years. Maximum weight is 300 lbs. Tour does not operate on Mondays, Fridays, weekends or holidays.
