A scenic journey north begins your day of natural wonder as you travel by motorcoach to the launch point for your kayak adventure.
Amami Oshima's northernmost point is a spectacular ecosystem of mangrove forests. Known as the Oriental Galapagos, Amami Oshima Island is resplendent with lush foliage, dramatic forests, a variety of indigenous wildlife and one-of-a-kind flowers and blooms. One of the island's greatest treasures is its virgin mangrove forest, which contains an immense 172 acres of mangrove trees.
A kayak adventure is the best way to appreciate this spectacular species. Soon after you arrive at the dock in the mangrove park, you will be gliding peacefully through the waters. Keep an eye out for some of the fauna that occupies the area -- particularly the ruri-kakesu (a member of the jaybird family).
Your time spent on the water will be so serene and picturesque, you'll wish it didn't have to end, but you'll leave with beautiful photographs and memories.
A relaxing motorcoach ride returns you to the pier.
