A fascinating visit to the Kushiro Marsh, Japan’s largest wetlands, begins when you board your comfortable motorcoach for a journey to one of the Visitor Centers and Observatory for Kushiro Marshland area.
The Visitors Center offers a compelling glimpse into life in the marsh, which was dedicated as a National Park in 1987. Thousands of species of plants, fish, insects and animals make the marsh their home, including Japan’s only population of endangered, red-crowned cranes. The observatory offers a spectacular panoramic view of the wetlands spreading before you, with Mt Meakan appearing serenely in the distance on clear days.
On the way back to the ship, you will see the nature of the northern island, called Hokkaido.
Notes:
The view from the observatory is weather dependent.
