The Alicante gastronomy concentrates all the excellence of the Mediterranean diet: vegetables, pulses, fish, seafood, and fruit, all fresh, and recently collected, to create delicious dishes and with a star protagonist: rice, which is prepared here in a hundred different ways, since nearly everything is susceptible to being used in a city famed for its rice par excellence.
Today you will be introduced to the most famous dish from the Mediterranean diet, known to be the world’s healthiest and characterized by its use of fresh fish, vibrant vegetables, beans, extra virgin olive oil, garlic, fish, and seafood: “paella alicantina”. You will learn how to prepare this dish at a unique place: one of Alicante's most iconic restaurants.
But first, your local expert guide will guide you through Alicante’s market so you can know about each ingredient in advance. In fact, the fresh products are what makes the result so tasty. The cooking show will be held by a professional chef who will demonstrate step by step how to prepare authentic paella Alicante-style.
By the end of this cooking demonstration, you will know exactly how to prepare the hearty dish, which will be served for your lunch.
Notes: The order of the places viewed or visited may vary, as well as the timings that are approximate and depend on the traffic, the pace of the group, the weather or other factors. The Central Market of Alicante is closed on Sundays, bank holidays and in the afternoons. Guests with any type of food allergy or intolerance need to advise with enough time in advance.
