June brought another month of unforgettable memories and fun at sea, as well as multiple moments celebrating those who make the journey possible – our employees. We’re grateful for our team members and the unique kind of awesome they bring to work every day, from ship to shore.
Here’s a look at recent meaningful moments celebrating those who share their hearts and talents with us from sea to sea:
Pride Month
June is Pride Month in the U.S. and in many parts of the world, celebrating the unique history, culture, and contributions of the LGBTQ+ community. On June 25, Holland America Line employees and allies came together to walk in the 2023 Seattle Pride Parade in the spirit of community, inclusion and belonging. It’s just one example of ways our employees come together to care for and uplift each other.
International Women in Engineering Day
June 23 marked the annual celebration of International Women in Engineering Day. Grateful for the talent and contributions of all women in engineering, we couldn’t help but recognize and share the story of one of our own: Milagros Talip. Milagros made history at Holland America Line after joining as our first female machinist in 2022. Originally inspired and taught by her father, she developed a deep passion for welding and even contributed to the tallest bamboo sculpture that made the Guinness Book of World Records. Day of the Seafarer
Recognized as an international day of observance on June 25, Day of the Seafarer celebrates the contributions and dedication of professionals in the maritime industry. We are incredibly grateful to our crew members – who come from 70 different countries around the world – for creating unforgettable moments for our guests, communities and each other.
Celebrating a Culture of Inclusion & Belonging
