Cruise Bookings Open for ms Koningsdam with Family & Solo Staterooms

Guests can now make bookings for the highly anticipated Premiere Voyage and Premiere Sailings of Holland America’s Line’s ms Koningsdam, due for delivery in February 2016. Open for reservations today, Dec. 1, the first sailings of the line’s new flagship will be one seven-day cruise followed by a series of six 12-day itineraries throughout the Mediterranean.

“Since Holland America Line announced this beautiful new ship, guests have been asking when they can book the Premiere voyages, so we anticipate they will sell out quickly,” said Orlando Ashford, Holland America Line’s president.“It’s always an exciting day when the bookings open for the first time, and if guests want to be on one of the first voyages of Koningsdam we recommend they book early.”

The seven-day Premiere Voyage is roundtrip from Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy; departing Feb. 20 to Dubrovnik, Croatia; Kérkira (Corfu) and Katakolon (Olympia), Greece; and Naples, Italy.

Following the Premiere Voyage, from the end of February through early May ms Koningsdam will cruise a series of six 12-day Premiere Sailings on two alternating itineraries roundtrip from Civitavecchia. The first itinerary calls at Katakolon, Piraeus (Athens), Rhodes and Crete, Greece; Istanbul (overnight) and Kusadasi (Ephesus), Turkey; and Naples. The other itinerary visits Naples; Palermo, Sicily; Cagliari, Sardinia; Gibraltar, British Territory; and Cádiz, Málaga, Cartagena and Barcelona (overnight), Spain.

About ms Koningsdam

Koningsdam represents a new Pinnacle Class of ship for Holland America Line. The vessel will debut several innovative concepts and new public spaces and venues, while still featuring popular amenities guests associate with Holland America Line.

To bring a fresh vision to ms Koningsdam, Holland America Line tapped Adam D. Tihany, one of the world’s pre-eminent hospitality designers. Tihany joins distinguished maritime designer and architect Bjørn Storbraaten who worked with Holland America Line on ms Eurodam and ms Nieuw Amsterdam. The two firms will create an interior that blends a fresh, contemporary styling in perfect harmony with the line’s renowned classic elegance.

The line recently unveiled the first series of interior renderings for ms Koningsdam on its website, and additional details will be revealed over the coming months, including plans for the ship’s official christening.

Koningsdam to feature single and family staterooms

Now that you’ve seen the itineraries it’s time to start thinking about which cabin best suits your needs! Koningsdam will feature Holland America Line’s first-ever purpose-built staterooms for families as well as single staterooms among its 1,331 guest accommodations (total capacity is 2,650). In addition, many familiar stateroom categories such as Neptune, Signature and Vista suites will be available in a wider range of sizes and a variety of configurations.

Koningsdam's 43 Neptune Suites range from a generous 465 to a huge 855 square feet.

The 12 single ocean-view cabins will range from 127 to 172 square feet in size and will be available on multiple decks at a variety of forward, mid-ship and aft locations.

With a sophisticated color palette and the freedom to design from the ground up based on guest feedback, ms Koningsdam’s staterooms and suites feature a host of modern functional details such as bedside USB ports, custom casework and frameless glass shower doors that feel elegant and luxurious.

On ms Koningsdam, the “suite life” gets even sweeter with larger, more luxurious quarters. A grand Pinnacle Suite is an expansive 1,290 square feet with a bedroom, living room, dining area, dressing room and private verandah with whirlpool. The two Neptune Spa Suites and 43 Neptune Suites range from a generous 465 to a huge 855 square feet. Neptune and Pinnacle Suite guests have access to the exclusive Neptune Lounge, a private place to relax, socialize with other suite guests and enjoy the personalized service of a concierge. The fleetwide lounges provide worktables, a large-screen television, library, sofas and chairs, and complimentary refreshments throughout the day.

Thank you HAL for the single cabins. I booked Passage to America. Would be nice to have a chair in the room as I like to read in quiet. Still the price is great so will find another place to read.

I’m glad to hear that HAL will provide solo cabins on the Konigsdam. This is long overdue, and HAL should consider incorporating solo cabins into the refitting of their other cruise ships. Given the interest shown in this blog for solo cabins, I’m surprised that only 12 cabins are solo. Didn’t HAL do any marketing research on the demand for solo cabins?? There is a huge market out there!

12 SINGLE CABINS!!!!!!!! Is that correct out 2650 people? Or is that supposed to be a joke.

Thank you for thinking of us singles. Paying double can be costly. Can’t wait to find out more on the cost and details.

Clever use of a mirror in the interior cabin to give the appearance of a window. Also better lighting.

Very pleased that HAL has thought of the singles, as nowadays there are more people like us yet we have to pay heavily on the supplements. I do like HAL.

would be wonderful to try this new ship she looks beautiful, we have only been on the Ryndam which we loved but she is coming to the end of her time with HAL.

Glad its sailing around Europe to start with, long haul flights from the UK are hard work for us. I would love to do the premier voyage or the second itinerary on the premier sailings. We have visited several of the ports on offer during previous cruises but that doesn’t matter to us, as long as we are sailing on a HAL ship we will be happy and a new ship would be just perfect.
