International Women’s Day is a day to celebrate the achievements of women. It’s also a day to rally for women’s equality. Did you know, National Women’s Day began in 1908 and the first gathering for International Women’s Day occurred in 1911? Campaign themes over the years have included: #EachforEqual, #BalanceforBetter, #PressforProgress, #BeBoldforChange, #PledgeforParity, #MakeItHappen, #TheGenderAgenda and more. The campaign theme for International Women’s Day 2021 is “Choose To Challenge.” From challenge comes change, and this year we are encouraged to #ChooseToChallenge.

Diana, NSDM Environmental Officer, is a true leader and a true ambassador for the environment while on ship and exploring ports of call. I’ve witnessed her at multiple occasions talking to guests (off shore and obviously on the ship) explaining about HAL continuous effort and initiative to preserve our environment!
I recognized Hotel Director Jessica Schumann immediately, even without the caption on the photo, as we have sailed with her four times on four different ships, and she has always recognized us and welcomed us like returning friends.
We have met many fine women staff members on the HAL ships, but for their special kindness and thoughtfulness to us I would like to recognize Guest Relations Mangers Mila and Liesbeth, and Future Cruise Consultant Joanne Crocker.
I always admire woman in this kind of field !( maritime), that only shows the equality of both gender and sometimes excel on their own respective fields.
