Rotterdam Departs Amsterdam on Her Maiden Voyage

Yesterday, our new Rotterdam departed on her maiden voyage! The ship’s arrival has been long-awaited, and we are excited that she’s finally underway! The milestone was commemorated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and fanfare at the terminal as guests embarked.

Guests Rick Encarnacion and Ernest Schenk cut the ribbon to open boarding, surrounded by (from left) Entertainment Director Phillip Morgaman, Captain Bas van Dreumel, Joycean and Jefferson Gentry, and Hotel General Manager Errol Nelson.

Prior to today, our team members gathered around the pool to show everyone the ship is ready!

What a wonderful experience it was to be on the Rotterdam for her Maiden Voyage. We were treated like royalty for the 14 day cruise. It was our first experience on a Pinnacle ship and truly enjoined some of the new features.
My favorites were the Grand Dutch Cafe. It was such a treat to be able to get pea soup, herring and bitterballen on the ship. Notes was another pleasure to have on the ship, I have explored Bourbon in Kentucky several times and have an opportunity to sample Bourbons that are hard to fin was a real treat, should mention the Ryes, Irish and Scotch Whiskeys too.
The last was the Half Moon Bar and its special cocktail menu of old favorites. I had a chance to try some of them and was pleased on how good they were

We were fortunate enough to be on the maiden transatlantic voyage of the beautiful Rotterdam! The crew was amazing, and treated us very well! The stories were heartfelt, sincere, and emotional. I’m grateful for all of you!! It was our first transatlantic cruise, but we already booked another one for 2022!

I was aboard the previous ‘Rotterdam’ on her last transatlantic crossing from Rome to Ft Lauderdale. There was a man on board who gave a number of very interesting lectures during the crossing. He worked previously I believe with the U S State department at various venues around the world. I forget his name. I was wondering if this person will be a part of future Holland America cruises.

    Thank you.

Wow, what a gorgeous photo of the Rotterdam VII at sunrise!
It brought back happy memories of visits to Amsterdam, as we have been at that terminal and have stayed at the Movenpick Hotel that can be seen behind the ship.
Also, a special “Hello” to Hotel Manager Errol Nelson; we are delighted to learn that he is on the new ship! We met him onboard the Nieuw Statendam in April of 2019 [the Fort Lauderdale to Amsterdam Atlantic crossing], and he was so very kind to us. That all seems so long ago now.
We wish fair winds and smooth sailing to all on board ms Rotterdam VII!
