Holland America Line Wins 29 Awards in 2022

From travel professionals and editors to the most discerning consumers and prestigious organizations, 2022 was a year of recognition for the Holland America Line team members who work hard to bring guests the best service at sea. Travel Weekly’s readers named Holland America Line the best world cruise itinerary, making it the 29th travel award received for the brand this year, including three awards for its newest ship, Rotterdam.

Holland America Line earned accolades in areas including best service, top spa facilities, best beverage menu for Half Moon Bar, best ship for dining, best specialty restaurant and best charitable initiative. Several overall cruise line awards were received, as well as honors that focused on destinations and the shipboard experience.

“We are always deeply honored when we win an award, whether it’s from a highly regarded publication or those who know our cruise line best, our guests, and we are humbled by the outpouring of recognition in 2022,” said Gus Antorcha, president of Holland America Line. “Each award is received with gratitude and comes with our commitment to providing an outstanding cruise experience.”

Kicking Off 2023 With a Big Win
Holland America Line was once again honored with the prize for “Best Cruise Line” as part of the annual Reisgala (Travel Gala) held in Nijkerk, Netherlands, on Jan. 28. This is the first Travel Gala in three years due to COVID.

The awards are unique in that they recognize the best people and companies in the travel sector, voted on by those who work in the industry. Anyone who works in the Dutch travel industry is invited to cast their votes in a range of categories. Nico Bleichrodt, vice president of international sales for Holland America Line, accepted the award on HAL’s behalf, and he was joined at the gala by other members of our Rotterdam-based Sales and Marketing teams.

Loving the new Rotterdam but for the fact that the outdoor Promenade Deck has lost the special appeal it always held for us. No longer can you walk the deck or relax in one of the steamer chairs and enjoy the amazing views – now all you’ve got are views of the tenders as your companion as you stroll…and in some places the deck is so narrow it’s next to impossible to walk side by side with your partner. What a serious drawback to cruising an otherwise beautiful ship. If Holland America truly knows its guests, this would not be the case.
