Live Music by the Pool is Back on Oosterdam and Zuiderdam
As part of Holland America Evolution, the largest fleet update in our 153-year history, Holland America is reintroducing live poolside music to Oosterdam and Zuiderdam — a tradition that has long defined the Pinnacle Class experience and that is now coming to the reimagined Vista Class ships.

Live entertainment has always been central to what makes a Holland America sailing exceptional. From solo guitar in the afternoon to a full live band as the sun goes down, there’s a rhythm to a day at sea that features great live music poolside on Oosterdam and Zuiderdam — cold drink in hand, ocean on the horizon, and a soundtrack playing just for the moment you’re in.
Now, as Oosterdam and Zuiderdam undergo their Evolution transformations, this much-loved element of our Pinnacle Class sailing experience is coming to our Vista Class ships, too.

Best Live Music at Sea — Now Poolside
At the center of the performances is a new dedicated poolside bandstand. Purpose-built for performance, it’s designed to feel like a natural part of the deck. Picture the open sky above and the water all around. The new poolside stage gives musicians a dedicated home to perform and guests another reason to pull up a deck chair.
Music That Moves with Your Day
Programming for the poolside stage is built around how people actually spend time at sea. Mornings and afternoons lean toward solo acoustic sets — unhurried, unobtrusive, the kind of music that turns a few hours at the pool into the best part of the day.
As the day builds toward evening, the energy lifts. Live bands bring upbeat rhythms and multi-instrument shows. Sail-away performances turn departure into something worth watching from the rail.
Rotating bands and genres mean no two afternoons sound the same. High energy sets bring the kind of music that moves a crowd, while classical performances are their own event — a close-up concert with a spectacular view.

Orange Party Evenings, Now Poolside
On Orange Party evenings, Holland America’s most celebrated Dutch tradition moves to the open air. The music and energy, the orange attire, and the Bols cocktails all now under open skies with a live band on the new poolside stage. It’s the kind of night that guests are still talking about at breakfast the next morning.
Part of Something More
Bringing live entertainment poolside on Oosterdam and Zuiderdam is just one piece of a much larger transformation. Oosterdam debuts her Evolution reimagining in December 2027, and Zuiderdam follows in Spring 2028.
Both ships arrive with refreshed staterooms, new suite categories including Solo Verandahs and Bridgeview Suites, and the beloved Grand Dutch Café — all Pinnacle Class-inspired, just like the live music by the pool.
