This tour takes you along the lush rain forest coastline of Onomea Bay—a scenic drive on the way to Akaka Falls in the comfort of a specialized mini-coach. As you slowly wind down the road towards the sea, you will be surrounded by incredible foliage and waterfalls—a true glimpse of Hawaiian paradise. Breathtaking views await you at Akaka Falls, a free-falling 442-foot waterfall that spills over a cliff of the dormant Mauna Kea Volcano. Great tsunami waves have always been a downside life in Hilo—today, you’ll hear of their capacity for devastation from a docent at the Pacific Tsunami Museum. Watch real footage of the 1946 tsunami; then, you’ll visit the beautiful Shinmachi Memorial, erected in honor of the many residents of Hilo who lost their lives. Your excursion continues to the historic King Kamehameha statue, followed by a panoramic journey through Lili’uokalani Gardens and along the famous Banyan Drive. Your excursion ends at Big Island Candies, where you can indulge in delectable handmade Hawaiian treats and 100% Kona coffee.
