Your tour begins with a short ride to the dock, where a tour boat awaits you.
Enjoy a scenic harbor cruise through the Inner Bay for nearly an hour as your local interpretive guide points out the fortifications best seen from the water. During the 17th century, the Spanish Crown hired prominent European military engineers to construct these defensive walls. A massive undertaking, it took more than 200 years to complete the project. The resulting seven miles of walls surrounding the city include the Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas (San Felipe Fortress) and the Fort of San Sebastián de Pastelillo.
Follow your guide on a walk through the narrow streets of the Old City. Learn about Colombia's famous emeralds and enjoy some free time to relax, shop or explore.
Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas offers a contrasting view from land. This 17th-century construction is the largest Spanish fort in the New World and represents South America's most important work of Spanish military engineering. A guided tour of this formidable castle explains why Cartagena was the most impenetrable city of the Spanish Main.
Your tour concludes with a walk back to your transportation and a relaxing drive back to the pier.
