Grab a paddle and get ready for an unforgettable adventure. Fjord kayaking is not only a healthy and rewarding way to spend the day; it's also a perfect way to get to know Icelandic nature up close. The Westfjords have earned a deserved reputation for being the ultimate nature- and adventure-lovers paradise.
Kayaking will appeal to those wishing to approach the fjord's beauty from another angle. Paddling a kayak under the magnificent mountains towering over the town offers proximity to nature from a new and exciting perspective.
Notes:
Due to Ísafjörður's remoteness and the scarcity of professional guides, all guiding is handled by locals; some are not professional, but all have great experience in guiding and extensive knowledge of the area. Tour operates rain or shine but may be canceled by the operator in the event of extremely bad weather or unsuitable conditions. Double kayaks will be used, but single kayaks can be requested well in advance; see the Shore Excursions team on board the ship. Minimum age is 12 years. Participants must walk approximately 400 yards to the kayaks. It is essential that you wear warm, layered clothing to fully enjoy and participate in this excursion; outer layer should be waterproof and windproof. Bring gloves, a warm hat and a scarf. Jeans are not allowed. Wear sturdy non-skid walking shoes. Bring extra clothing in case you get splashed.
