The typical French Provençal village of Fontvieille, nestled in the heart of Alpilles, hosts a great gastronomic experience on this full-day adventure that immerses you in the region's cuisine and its scenic splendor.
A pleasant motorcoach ride brings you to a classic olive farm, where thousands of olive trees grow some of the world's finest olive oil, pressed on site. Your hosts for the day will share their passion for regional cooking and the beloved fruit of their labors. They will demonstrate some typical olive-oil-based Provençal recipes using an old stone table as the work surface.
Stroll the grounds and visit the mill adjacent to an 11th-century chapel.
Next, you'll drive to Fontvieille for lunch at a local restaurant.
Continue to the medieval village of Les Baux de Provence, perched on a rocky outcropping. Your guide will lead you on a walking tour of the town, down twisting cobblestone lanes flanked by grey-stone buildings and along deep ravines. See the ruins of an ancient castle and the interior of Saint Vincent's Church bathed in rich light that shines through its colorful stained-glass windows.
Enjoy some free time to explore on your own and do a little souvenir shopping or pop into one of the small museums you passed on your walking tour.
The 90-minute drive back to the ship is a wonderful opportunity to chat with fellow travelers about this exceptional day.
