For those who prefer to sightsee on their own, this tour is for you.
Take a 20-minute transfer by air-conditioned bus to downtown Puerta Plata. Explore the historical center, cathedral and shopping area on your own. The waterfront Malecón (boulevard), with its many bars and restaurants, is just a five-minute walk from town.
From town, a 10-minute transfer brings you to the beach, where you'll have up to two hours to enjoy the beach and the property's facilities. Use of a beach chair is included. A restaurant is available to purchase snacks.
A third stop is offered at Playa Dorada for souvenir shopping .
Notes:
The first bus departure is approximately one hour after the ship's arrival. There are two additional departures, each on the hour. The last bus for the return to the ship leaves two hours before all-aboard time -- one from the City Center and one from Playa Dorada). There are no additional buses, so you must be sure to be at the stop on time. It is your responsibility to ensure you are back on board the ship on time. There are signs at each point with contact information in case of an accident or incident and a further explanation of how the shuttle service works. Wear your swimsuit under your clothing; bring a towel, reef-safe/biodegradable sunscreen, light clothing to act as a full cover-up for further protection from the sun, and a hat. Swim at your own risk.
