Depart the pier for a one-hour scenic drive with stunning views as you make your way to the home of St Maarten's rum at Topper's Rhum Distillery, located directly on Simpson Bay Lagoon. They have won USA Today's prestigious Best Caribbean Rum Distillery Award multiple times and more than thirty international medals.
You'll be treated to Topper's famous Homemade Rhum Punch upon arrival. A knowledgeable guide leads you on a hands-on tour. Along the way, you'll learn a little history of rum making in the Caribbean and take a behind-the-scenes look at how it is fermented, distilled and filtered. Watch the blending process and how the handcrafted rums are bottled.
In the barrel aging room, pay attention to the expert, and you'll leave knowing how to properly nose and taste rum. Try more than 20 of the 100+ (sometimes bizarre) flavors currently under development and enjoy the samples of the twelve-specialty small batch rums and famous Rhum Cake.
The only thing better than drinking rum is drinking rum and cooking with it at the same time. What could possibly go wrong? Absolutely nothing!! You'll find yourself swapping rum cocktail recipes and learning how to make some fun Caribbean recipes made with rum, including rum gelato.
