Here's a comprehensive introduction to St Thomas, featuring one of the world's most iconic beaches, spectacular down-island views, historical locations and ultimate shopping experiences.
Begin with a scenic panoramic drive along Skyline Drive, offering breathtaking views of Charlotte Amalie Harbor, the Caribbean Sea, the British Virgin Islands and Magen's Bay.
Photograph these spectacular views from Drake's Seat; then, head down to the heart-shaped beach and crystalline waters of Magen's Bay Beach, rated by many travel magazines as one of the top ten beaches in the world. You'll have approximately two hours of free time for fun in the sun and a swim.
Continue to the colonial district — home of world-famous Blackbeard's Castle, a Danish military tower. The revitalized Kongens (King's) Quarter Historic Park has been dubbed "the Williamsburg of the Caribbean." Step back into the age of seafaring trade at the Danish West Indian port town of Charlotte Amalie. Learn stories from the island's past of global traders, pirates, the impacts of slavery, and life in a vibrant West Indian port. This National Landmark Property dates back to the late 1600s, with several restored colonial manor houses set on approximately four acres of lush tropical grounds.
Traverse the famous 99 Steps for a short walk to the historic Main Street, boasting some of the finest duty-free shopping in the Caribbean.
Head back to the ship via pre-arranged transportation.
Notes:
Transportation between the ship and Main Street is included recommended shopping and exploration. Wear your swimsuit under your clothing; bring a towel, reef-safe/biodegradable sunscreen, light clothing to act as a full cover-up for further protection from the sun, and a hat. Swim at your own risk. Terrain includes even and uneven surfaces, cobblestones, inclines, sand, and many steps. Restoration projects can be underway at any time. Tour sequence may vary.
