With its palm-lined beaches, iconic Piton mountains and waterfall-dotted rain forest, St Lucia is one of the true gems of the Caribbean.
Begin your tour with a breathtaking view of the city from Morne Fortune's viewpoint. Stroll about in Marigot Bay, a double harbor that was the setting for the films Doctor Doolittle and Superman 2.
Head to the local island rum distillery, where you will see how this liquor is produced, and taste for yourself the heart-warming nectar of the gods. A recreated village street, spice market and carnival give an insight into the lifestyle and spirit of St Lucians.
Continue to Howelton Estate's Caribelle Batik Silk Studios for a brief demonstration of Batik-making. Enjoy the sounds of steel-pan music. Fruit and rum punch are served here.
A short drive brings you to the Pink Plantation House -- a 150-year-old French-Colonial wooden house with breathtaking scenic views of Castries, the Caribbean coastline, and the neighboring island of Martinique. Enjoy a lunch of traditional local cuisine accompanied by a glass of red or white wine. Sit on the open-air verandah or explore the grounds. Hand-painted ceramics are on display and make a wonderful souvenir.
Notes:
The route is winding. Guests who are prone to motion sickness should consider this before booking and/or take appropriate medication. Minimum age is 4 years.
