Experience the diversity of St Lucia with a panoramic countryside and coastal drive -- a wonderful introduction to the unexpectedly stunning coastlines and byways of St Lucia.
Passing through the city of Castries, you will see the vibrant traditional market, the century-old basilica, and Derek Walcott Square, named for the island's Nobel Laureate.
Take in the wide view of the capital city and its beautiful hinterland from Morne Fortune. You'll weave along a dramatic ridgeline that bisects the landscape. On one side is the bustling city; on the other side is a wealth of lush banana plantations. Mountains wrap around the entire scene, creating a true spectacle.
Drive to Caribelle Batik Silk Studios for a demonstration of the art of batik and silk-screen printing in an old Victorian mansion high atop Morne Fortune. Browse in the gift shop if you like.
Travel through quaint rural communities before the dramatic descent into the Rodney Bay village. This urban environment dominates the northern coast of the island. Your guide will point out the modern homes, resorts and world-class yachting marina.
Return to Castries, stopping briefly at Pigeon Island for photos of the spectacular coastline and the neighboring island of Martinique on the horizon.
Notes:
The route is winding. Guests who are prone to motion sickness should consider this before booking and/or take appropriate medication.
