The story of bobsledding in Jamaica began in 1988 when this tiny (and very warm) Caribbean nation sent a team to the Calgary Winter Olympics. How did they do? Well, they inspired the movie Cool Runnings, they finished the race, and they captured hearts all around the word -- what a victory!
Today, you’ll have your own shot at bobsledding here in Jamaica. Journey to the base of Mystic Mountain and hop on the Sky Explorer Chairlift. From high above all of Jamaica, at 700 feet in elevation above sea level, take in views of the mountains and the town of Ocho Rios below.
Brace yourself for the signature ride on the Bobsled -- a gravity-driven plunge through 3,280 feet of heart-pounding twists and turns. The specially designed sled allows you to control your own descent with an in-sled handbrake. Zoom around ancient trees, hug majestic cliff faces, and navigate limestone outcroppings, all while sliding through narrow rainforest chutes. Whether you choose a leisurely tour or a pulse-quickening dive, it’s a thrilling experience that combines the rush of the ride with the stunning beauty of Jamaica’s natural landscape.
