Enjoy a scenic drive along Jamaica's beautiful coastline to Yaaman Adventure Park, one of Jamaica's oldest estates, owned by Sir Harold Mitchell. Upon arrival, stand under the great mahogany tree planted by Sir Winston Churchill in 1953 and listen to an introduction to the property.
Climb aboard an open-air jitney for a narrated ride through the property, where you will learn about Jamaican flora and its medicinal uses.
Take an escorted walk through the ornamental garden to see a wide variety of herbs and tropical plants such as cat whiskers, plumbago and canon. At the end of the garden path, you will be treated to a panoramic view of the Caribbean Sea.
Then, it's off to the verandah of the majestic Great House, where your senses will be tantalized by the different herbs and spices you will use in today's cooking class. Each guest has his/her own workstation with a clear view of Chef Irie. He guides you in the preparation of the Yaaman Special Blend Jerk Sauce for jerked chicken and shows you the proper technique for kneading Jamaican Festival Bread dough and the traditional preparation of callaloo greens for steaming.
Sit down to a Jamaican lunch of these delightful local favorites, including your own jerked chicken.
Afterward, shop for souvenirs in the gift shop and mingle with and feed dozens of colorful birds in the large bird aviary.
Relax on the return journey to the ship in Ocho Rios.
