Enjoy a scenic drive along Jamaica's beautiful coastline to Yaaman Adventure Park, one of Jamaica’s oldest estates, owned by Sir Harold Mitchell. Upon arrival, stand under the great mahogany tree planted by Sir Winston Churchill in 1953 and listen to an introduction to the property.
Climb aboard an open-air jitney for a narrated ride through the property, where you will learn about Jamaican flora and its medicinal uses.
Enjoy an escorted walk through the ornamental garden to see a wide variety of herbs and tropical plants such as cat whiskers, plumbago and canon. At the end of the garden path, you will be treated to a panoramic view of the Caribbean Sea!
Then, it's off to the verandah of the majestic Great House, where your senses will be tantalized by the different herbs and spices you will use today in the cooking class.
Each guest will have his/her own workstation with a clear view of Chef Irie as he guides you in the preparation of the Yaaman Special Blend Jerk Sauce for jerked chicken, shows you the proper technique for kneading Jamaican Festival Bread dough, and the traditional preparation of callaloo greens for steaming.
Following your cooking class, enjoy a Jamaican lunch of these delightful local favorites, including your own jerked chicken.
After lunch, there's time to shop for souvenirs in the gift shop and don’t miss the chance to mingle with and feed dozens of exotic and colorful birds in the large bird aviary.
Relax on the return journey to your awaiting ship in Ocho Rios.
