This cultural and culinary encounter promises to excite all your senses and tickle your taste buds.
As you pass through downtown George Town on a panoramic drive, your driver-guide shares interesting facts about the historical architecture -- the bell tower, the library, the Legislative Assembly, Heroes Square and the Court House -- bringing to life Cayman's past and present.
Visit the open-air Cayman Craft Market on the waterfront of George Town. Local vendors offer fresh produce, home-style preserves, pickles, and hot sauces that are 100% Cayman-made. Local artisans showcase their labor-of-love island-style handicrafts.
Pirates and settlers brought rum to the Cayman Islands, but the locals have cheerfully embraced it as their own. Visit the Cayman Spirits Company, where the rum is aged literally under the Caribbean Sea. Tour the distillery to discover the process from distilling to packaging. You're invited to sample three different rums and to purchase souvenirs from the gift shop.
The Made in Cayman rum factory produces both rums and the delicious rum cake for which Cayman is famous. Will you try some? Of course you will!
At an authentic island restaurant, experience George Town's laid-back culinary lifestyle. Meet the chef (time permitting) and hear how the downhome foods included in your lunch are prepared and cooked.
Notes:Wear comfortable walking shoes. Shade is limited; to avoid sunburn, wear light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up. Bring a hat and sunglasses; wear biodegradable sunscreen. Bring bottled water.
