Buck Island offers a lovely day out for every visitor -- whether you choose to snorkel the underwater trail or just relax and enjoy the cruise. Proclaimed a National Monument by President John F. Kennedy in 1962, Buck Island sits off St Croix’s North Coast and consists of approximately 40,000 acres of land and sea. Its main beauty lies in the fantastic reefs and a fascinating underwater trail.
From Frederiksted, it’s a 45-minute drive across the island to Christiansted.
Take a relaxing 40-minute powerboat ride to tour the North Shore of St Croix en route to Buck Island Beach for snorkeling lessons. After your lesson, reboard the boat and head to the other side of the island to the Marine Garden.
Here, gear up and spend an hour snorkeling, viewing spectacular coral reefs and tropical fish that thrive in this protected environment.
Sodas, water, and rum punch will be provided on the return journey.
Notes:
Snorkeling is from the boat and equipment is included. Guests who do not want to snorkel must remain on the boat. There is no beach at the Buck Island snorkel site. There is a ladder to climb back into the boat after the snorkel. Minimum age is 5 years.
