Discover the wondrous natural waterways beneath the Yucatan Peninsula, whose limestone caverns and rivers are truly amazing.
Tender by ferry to the mainland and drive about 30 minutes to the Rio Secreto (Secret River), awarded the prestigious title of Mexico & Central America’s Leading Nature Reserve. Navigate the caverns on foot and by swimming through crystal-clear fresh water. This protected National Reserve is filled with astounding stalactites, stalagmites and other natural formations.
Afterward, enjoy a snack, a beverage, and some free time in Playa del Carmen before the ferry ride back to the ship.
Notes:
Wear your swimsuit under your clothing; bring a towel, reef-safe/biodegradable sunscreen (no other kind of sunscreen is allowed in the water), light clothing to act as a full cover-up for further protection from the sun, and a hat. Bring a dry change of clothes, aqua shoes and cash or credit card. Watches, jewelry, and still or video cameras cannot be taken inside the cavern. An in-house photographer will have photos for sale at the end of the program. Minimum age is 5 years. Maximum weight is 250 lbs. The ride to the site will be bumpy. Pregnant women or guests with back or neck conditions or recent surgeries are not allowed to participate. Ferry ride may be rough. Guests who are prone to motion sickness should consider this before booking and/or take appropriate medication. Tour operates rain or shine.
