Explore Cozumel's chocolate history, tequila industry and underwater world.
Visit the Mayan Cacao Company for a sensory experience. This is your introduction to the raw cacao bean and the magnificent world of Mexican chocolate. Enjoy a delicious sample before you step inside a Mayan house to learn how these proud people used to live. You'll also see the botanic garden and hear about Mayan customs and traditions.
Learn how the humble agave cactus is processed to create one of the world's favorite liquors at a tequila seminar at Barriecito. A tequila tasting introduces you to the subtleties of this Mexican staple.
At a nearby pier, board a glass-bottom semi-submersible boat and sit four feet below the waterline. Your window neatly frames the Caribbean underwater world with beautiful coral formations, a reef and crystalline water.
Notes:
There are several steep steps leading into and out of the semi-submersible. Not advisable for guests who are claustrophobic. Not advisable for guests with mobility limitations or for guests using a wheelchair. Bring insect repellent August through December. Bring cash, as many vendors do not accept credit cards or US dollars. Tour sequence may vary.
