Follow the path of the ancient Mayans, who believed that the rain god Chaak lived in natural wells and sinkholes called cenotes. During this beautiful and interesting day out, you'll visit four different cenotes.
You'll begin with a short ferry ride to the mainland and a panoramic drive by motorcoach along the Mayan Riviera to an ancient cenote sanctuary.
Walk through the jungle on the Original Mayan Water Trail, leading to the first cenote. The La Cueva Cenote is so named due to its spectacular natural arch.
Hop back onto the path to the second cenote -- Centote Kay. This is one of the few cenotes with stalactites.
Next is the amazing Gran Cenote Azul, named for its clear blue water and cool temperature.
And finally, the stroll to the fourth cenote -- Cenote Naval -- rewards you with a view of a stunning pool that measures 1,640 feet in diameter. Traverse this natural wonder by canoe, paddling yourself across it to admire the surrounding native flora and fauna.
Enjoy a delicious and simple lunch served with super-fresh tortillas.
Notes:
Wear your swimsuit under your clothing; bring a towel, hat, and reef-safe/biodegradable sunscreen (no other kind of sunscreen is allowed in the water). To avoid sunburn, bring light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up. Terrain includes rocky, uneven surfaces. Bring aqua shoes.
