A short (included) taxi ride delivers you to an air-conditioned seaside terrace, which will be your outdoor tasting room for an introduction to Mexican tequila and mezcal.
Learn about how tequila is produced from the exotic blue agave plant and discover the many secrets attributed to this elixir. Tequila is considered Mexico's National Drink and has long played an important role in its culture. Tequila contains at least 51% agave, and premium Tequila is 100% agave.
Mezcal, on the other hand, is a distilled alcoholic beverage made specifically from the Maguey agave. Usually consumed straight, mezcal has a strong, smoky flavor and some sip it along with salt and fruit.
Your instructor will guide you through the tasting and savoring of three different types each of tequila and mezcal. Compare them and discuss the subtle differences. You'll also go local and pair these spirits with tacos, guacamole, fried crickets and maguey worms. Yes, these are completely edible local favorites.
Browse and shop for tequila and mezcal products if you wish before returning to the ship.
