Take a scenic panoramic drive along the Cozumel coast and tender ride out to the Atlantis submarine dock. From there, board the e-submarine Atlantis XII for a dive to a depth of 100 feet or more in air-conditioned comfort.
You'll have a spectacular view of the natural scenery of Chankanaab Reef — part of the Mesoamerican barrier reef system. This is one of the largest living structures on the planet, and is seasonally home to fish, lobsters, rays, sharks, and turtles.
Watch for the famous Cozumel Wall whose vertical drop of 2,000 feet delineates the island. A new submarine route explores the largest dive wreck in the area, the Felipe Xicotencatl. This 154-foot-long ship was purposely sunk to enhance the life of this Protected Natural Area and preserve it for future generations. Nowadays, it is home to many fish, sponges, and soft corals.
The experienced crew provides an interesting narration of the area and its diversity of underwater life.
Notes:
Participants must be able to safely navigate backward on a 12-step ladder (handrails available). Minimum age is 4 years. Guests who are pregnant can participate up to the 6th month of pregnancy.
