Your quest for the perfect mix of adventure and knowledge starts here in the heart of the Belizean jungle. Board a comfortable air-conditioned coach for an approximately 80-minute ride to the Jungle Jaguar Camp, passing through savannas and quaint villages en route.
A skilled high-angle guide outfits you with a harness. Follow a short winding trail through thick jungle dwarfed by towering cohune palms to a limestone cliff -- the launchpad for your zip-line adventure. Feel the rush as you fly 500 feet across the jungle for a bird's-eye view of a cavernous opening to one of the Mayas' ancient ceremonial caves. The next traverse takes you 700 feet over the dense flora of a Mayan hunting ground.
Adrenaline pumping and anticipation high, it's time to switch from harness to life vest. A river tubing adventure now introduces you to some gorgeous crystal caves. Float into a chamber where high ceilings and a stalactite-lined wall evoke a cathedral's mighty pipe organ in a sacred place. Crystal-encrusted cave formations dazzle as you meander down the river. Hop out of your tube and enter the crystal chamber to explore the underworld of the Maya on foot. Pottery found here dates back to AD 300-900. Duck as the hike takes you through a tiny passageway, and you emerge in front of a frozen-waterfall column and a glittering stone dam that will take your breath away.
Back in your tube, make your way to an underground lagoon bordered by a mini-waterfall, which signals the end of your subterranean adventure.
You can buy a photo from a professional photographer afterward and purchase a snack (at your own expense).
