Experience the beauty and history of Bonaire on a trolley train tour that takes you on a scenic drive through the capital -- Kralendijk. This is a fun way to see the main sights. Take photos from the train as it moves slowly enough for you to capture many beautiful images.
You'll head to Nikiboko -- a typical residential neighborhood with picturesque homes built during the 19th and 20th centuries. Pass the island's largest church -- San Bernardo Church (1829). Religion is an integral part of the life of many Bonaire residents. Traditional and modern architecture stand side by side in a kaleidoscope of vibrant Caribbean colors.
The waterfront offers stunning views of the bay dotted with visiting sailboats, yachts and your cruise ship. Notice the various architectural styles, including the typical merchant businesses on the ground floor homes above.
Many gift shops carry locally-made items that could be your perfect Bonaire souvenir -- paintings, prints, painted fish and one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces.
Guests wishing to stay in town to shop or explore independently are welcome to do so but must make their own way back to the ship.
Notes:
Wear comfortable walking shoes.
