Learn to dive and discover the beauty of Aruba's underwater world under the guidance of a professional instructor. All scuba equipment and instruction are included.
Your beginners' scuba course includes a one-hour pool session and a one-tank boat dive. The pool session teaches you the basic rules for scuba diving, such as dealing with pressure, breathing through a regulator and how to use the equipment.
The dive boat takes you to a shallow wreck, the Pedernalis. The Pedernalis was an oil tanker torpedoed by a German submarine during World War II. The wreck's several large pieces are spread out between coral formations, making visible the cabins complete with sinks and other fittings. The area around the Pedernalis wreck is known for its many types of grouper and its bounty of angelfish.
This dive has a maximum depth of 25 feet for about 35 minutes. An instructor accompanies the class underwater.
Notes:
Wear your swimsuit; bring a towel, reef-safe/biodegradable sunscreen, light clothing to act as a full cover-up for further protection from the sun, and a hat. In the event of adverse sea or weather conditions, an alternative dive site may be substituted. Minimum age is 12 years. Maximum weight is 350 lbs. Waiver must be signed, and medical conditions disclosed. You must fill out a medical questionnaire, which the tour operator will review. Whether or not the operator allows you to participate depends on the information provided. To avoid disappointment, you may wish to review the medical requirements for diving in advance so that you can ask your physician about clearing any medical issues in writing. A physician's letter may be required. Samples of typical medical questionnaires can be found on the websites of the major dive associations, such as PADI (Professional Association of Dive Instructors) and NAUI (National Association of Underwater Instructors).
