Appreciate the breathtaking beauty of an active volcano from the climate-controlled comfort of a helicopter with stadium-style seating.
You'll skim across the sparkling turquoise waters of the Caribbean to the magnificent island of Montserrat. Skirt lush, untouched hills en route to Montserrat's Exclusion Zone -- an area off limits to most aviators, seen only by a lucky few.
At its center is the awe-inspiring Soufrière Hills Volcano. Rising to an impressive 3,000 feet and dominating the island, it often vents a combination of ash, smoke, and steam. The volcano towers above the Tar River Gorge and deltas. Its last major eruption was in 1997 and left two-thirds of the island uninhabitable. View the swathe of destruction as you fly over abandoned villages, the defunct W.H. Bramble Airport, and the charred remains of Plymouth -- the former capital now partially buried under 40 feet of ash.
Your pilot will keep you engaged, and an instrumental soundtrack plays through your headset, completely immersing you in the experience.
Watch for sea life on your flight back to Antigua. Sea turtles are commonly seen, and keep an eye out for magnificent humpback and sperm whales.
