Enjoy air-conditioned transportation with commentary from your experienced and knowledgeable guide. You will miss nothing when listening in through the ease and clarity of the Whisper radio system.
A scenic drive takes you from the island's quaint northern capital, St John's, through the heart of the island. Take in Antigua's tropical countryside, picturesque villages, and gently rolling hills, rich in daily West Indian life. Local villages with old churches exemplify West Indian culture.
You will pass the magnificent view of Falmouth Harbour en route to English Harbour. Here, you will find the famed Nelson's Dockyard. Built in 1725, the Dockyard served as the base for the English naval squadron patrolling the West Indies. As you enter this historic park -- the only working Georgian dockyard in the world -- a National Park guide meets you and leads you on a short, informative walking tour through the Dockyard. Note the beautifully restored buildings, detailed plaques, and many points of interest. A refreshing beverage is served here. After the tour, you'll have free time to explore the Dockyard, museum, art gallery, gift shop and boutiques.
Continue to Shirley Heights Lookout -- a former signal station that offers a commanding view of the Atlantic Ocean and a picture-perfect view of Nelson's Dockyard and English Harbour.
Your waiting coach returns you to St John's and the ship.
