Departing from the pier, a countryside drive takes you through San Marcos Village. Your destination is Isabel de Torres Mountain. Admire the beautiful botanical sanctuary and forest that surround the mountain and cling to its slopes. At the top, the Statue of Christ dominates the landscape. Take in the sweeping view of the town below, inhale the fresh air, and enjoy the cooler temperature. Stroll with your guide through the Botanic Garden to admire diverse flowers and plants from the tropics.
Back down at sea level, relax on a panoramic drive through the Old Town of Puerto Plata. You will see Plaza Independencia (formerly Central Park), San Felipe Cathedral, and colorful Victorian houses.
On the way back to the pier, watch for San Felipe Fortress, built in 1564 to protect the city from pirates and corsairs.
