In cooperation with Fathom Impact Travel, here's your chance to cruise with purpose for a positive impact. You'll embark on an engaging and immersive experience introducing you to a recycling micro-business founded by women. Beautiful paper products and jewelry are just some of the products you'll help produce -- your chance to give back and make a difference in this community.
At RePapel, local women are creating a new industry using recycled goods. You will participate in the entire process of repurposing recycled paper into artisanal stationery, jewelry and other crafts. At DIY workstations, you will work alongside the friendly women of RePapel to make new products for sale.
Volunteers are an integral part of the organization, assisting with English-language skills and helping the women sell their products more effectively. Your contribution to the production process helps the organization increase sales and thrive within the community. This support provides critical income and will allow the women to expand their association as their business grows.
Notes:
At the end of your day at RePapel, take a moment to browse among the variety of handmade crafts the Dominican women have created. The brightly colored coasters, paper cards and jewelry make lovely souvenirs. Bring cash in small bills; both American and Dominican currency is accepted. Wear comfortable, modest clothing and closed-toe shoes.
