Leave the pier for a panoramic drive through historical Skagway. Your guide will point out landmarks and describe the raucous days of Skagway's gold rush heyday.
It's a 40-minute drive from Skagway to the shores of Summit Lake. Along the way, enjoy spectacular views of Denver Glacier, White Pass, and numerous snow-capped peaks.
At Summit Lake, a short walk brings you to a 31-foot, motor-assisted voyageur canoe, similar to those used by trappers and prospectors during the gold-rush era. Listen to a brief safety talk and paddling instructions, then hop into the canoe and head out onto the water. The rocky landscape of coves and islets makes for stunning paddling in a pristine setting. Explore narrow channels and rugged shoreline with about 90 minutes on the water. If you're feeling tired or the winds pick up, the small motor kicks in to assist.
Return to the van/coach for the drive back to Skagway.
